The CTS Difference | AV Project Delivery Processes

AV Project Delivery Processes

As the AV trade has evolved, two primary methods have developed that are in common use today. They involve two key AV providers: Independent AV Design Consultants and AV Systems Integrators. The first method mirrors the traditional Architect-General Contractor based design-bid-build process that is often used for new and large-scale renovation projects. The other main type of AV project delivery process is a design-build option that is similar to the design-build concept sometimes used in building projects.

Design-Bid-Build

The Independent AV Design Consultant-led design-bid-build process involves the use of an independent consultant who operates similar to, and in conjunction with, the other building design consultants on the architectural team. This collaboration occurs during both the design and construction phases.

Design-Build

This method of procuring AV systems involves using the AV integrator for both the design and construction phases of the project. In this process the AV Systems Integrator is required to provide all of the base building design items, as well as to design and install the systems. On occasion, the systems integrator may subcontract to an independent AV design consultant to assist on a large and/or complicated project to augment the integrator’s expertise.
